This document describes the use of URIs whose path component is "/.well-known/statements.txt", and includes a template for their registration as required by RFC5785.
A URI with the path component "/.well-known/statements.txt" is used by the Stated network to verify the domain owners intention to publish the statements contained in the text file. These statements constitute all actions on the stated platform, such as poll votes or collective contract signatures.
The content is served with a media type of "text/plain". For automated aggregation of statements, they must be separated by two newline characters and conform with supported statement formats.
The individual statements can also be made accessible separately under the path ".well-known/statements/<file hash>.txt" where the url safe base64 encoded hash of the statement is used as the file name.
